Does your business actually need a Carbon Reduction Plan?
If you are a UK business looking to grow through public sector or enterprise-level contracts, a compliant Carbon Reduction Plan is no longer optional. You must have one in place if you fall into any of the following categories:
Central Government Bidders: Under PPN 006, any supplier bidding for central government contracts worth £5 million or more per annum is legally required to provide a CRP. Without it, you will fail the Selection Questionnaire.
NHS Suppliers: The NHS requires a compliant Carbon Reduction Plan for all new procurement contracts regardless of value. From April 2026, NHS Supply Chain additionally requires suppliers to hold Evergreen Level 1 status at tender close - a compliant CRP is the foundation of this requirement.
Local Authority & Wider Public Sector: PPN 006 officially mandates central government, but local councils, universities, and police forces are increasingly adopting the same CRP requirement in their own tendering processes.
Suppliers to Large Private Enterprises: FTSE 100/250 companies are under growing pressure to report their Scope 3 supply chain emissions. If you supply one, they may ask for your carbon data. A CRP makes you a lower-risk, more attractive supplier.
